ABOUT Gordian

Gordian Special Assets is an investment and advisory firm focused on complex cross-border projects including debt recovery and disputes. Our staff are multilingual intelligence, litigation and finance professionals with global experience across developed and emerging markets.Gordian discreetly works alongside specialist law firms to create bespoke strategic and financial solutions in distressed situations. All of our decision-making and advice is based on in-depth, on-the-ground primary research comprising the creative use of publicly available information, sophisticated deployment of technology, and ethically obtained human intelligence.

Enforcement Solutions

Gordian provides capital-based solutions for the global enforcement of high-value arbitral awards, judgments, fraud claims and non-performing loans. This may involve covering the cost of enforcement in exchange for a portion of any recoveries, or acquiring an interest in our clients' claims. Within either of these structures, we only receive payment in case of a successful recovery. Our clients' debtors often actively evade payment. Identifying and recovering such debtors' assets, or exerting sufficient leverage on them to settle, requires costly investigative and enforcement expertise. Our in-house asset recovery team can provide this expertise to clients at no upfront cost.We work hand-in-hand with the client to develop enforcement strategies driven by our investigations, helping co-ordinate the appointment and management of their global legal teams where necessary. Our funding solutions allow our clients to obtain value from large debts while eliminating financial risk and preserving resources to allocate to their core business.

Advisory Services

Gordian supports clients with the creation of intelligence-based strategies to help expedite favourable outcomes in disputes and other business-critical situations. We build these strategies using deep investigations into the history, strategic positioning, relationships, and assets of our clients and their counterparties. We operate internationally and have extensive experience working in emerging markets and offshore financial centres.Unlike most advisory firms in the contentious space, we generally provide our strategic support on an unrestricted basis throughout the lifecycle of a dispute or investment project, without charging by the hour or separately for specific pieces of work. We align our interests with those of our clients by linking the majority of our remuneration to the outcome of our projects. This ensures our advisory projects can be managed in the same dynamic and end-goal oriented way as those in our investment portfolio.Depending on the nature, size, and geography of the opportunity, we often draw on our network of other specialist investors and advisors to enhance the impact of our work on specific projects. We can take over the entire management of a project from our clients, allowing them to focus resources on their core business.
